Welcome back to Optimal Wellness’s monthly email blasts. We have two very exciting announcements this month!
Allison will now be teaching a (donation based) flow, align, and restore class at the Spiritual Life Society in Hudson, Ohio on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:45 PM (there is also a virtual option). Get energized during the alignment and flow and rejuvenate during the restorative portion with poses that will help to relax and restore your body. If you aren’t familiar with the Spiritual Life Society, it’s located at the “Old Church on the Green” on East Main Street. They focus on Raja Yoga (Classical Astanga Yoga), Hatha, Meditation and more. The SLS has been providing authentic yoga with some of the areas most experienced teachers and they have also been training teachers longer than any other school in Ohio.
This August Allison will be partnering with Paisley to host a Women’s Wellness Retreat at our cabin! This gathering will be centered around sisterhood connection, yoga, meditation, breathing, connecting to nature, and more! See the flyer below for more details and click here to reserve your spot. If you have questions, please reply to this email.
This Month’s Resources
What is Pranayama?
For several thousand years, yogis have drawn on the powerful practice of pranayama, a technique of controlling the breath to maximize prana or life energy. “Prana” means “the vital energy”, “yama” means to gain control over that. So, it is a subtle process through which one can gain control over his inner energies. These processes are taught in their depth because transforming inner energies are very important to stabilize the body and the mind.” Pranayama has been practiced to rejuvenate the body and as a means of self-study and self-transformation. What is Gluten?
Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, rye and other grains. It’s in a lot of common foods and drinks, including pasta, cereal and beer. Gluten can also be in things like vitamins, cosmetics and even certain medications. When someone follows a gluten free diet, they refrain from eating all of the above. Another Kitchen Appliance
A cast iron tortilla press! Sharing this because of how much fun we have been having making (and eating) homemade tortillas and tortilla chips! We love this because we know exactly what is going into the product and we have been trying to avoid nasty oils (such as canola oil, corn oil, grape seed oil, sunflower oil, etc.) that are often found in store bought tortillas. You can also make these gluten free with Bob’s Red Mill 1-to-1 baking flour, King Arthur’s gluten-free all-purpose flour, or a traditional corn flour.
