Happy Fall! During the autumnal period of transition between summer and winter, nature forces change upon us. We encourage you to welcome the change rather than fight it. Try to be open minded and get out of your comfort zone a little bit! Change offers a new perspective, promotes personal growth, and pushes us to be more adaptable.
If you are looking to welcome change during this transition, we still have TWO spots left for the Wild Witchy Womxn’s Yoga Retreat October 6-8, 2023. We will get comfortable with the uncomfortable, get real, get raw, and honor our inner feminine!
This Month’s Resources
Why is Jumping Good for You?
- Jumping builds strength and improves muscle tone.
- Jumping is an excellent calorie-burner. It helps you dig into the fat-burning zone.
- Jumping helps improve bone density. Bone density or bone mineral density (BMD) refers to the strength of your bones.
- Jumping improves your metabolism.
- Jumping improves heart health.
- Jumping improves balance and muscle coordination. It is a great way to attain functional fitness.
- Jumping requires no equipment or any specialized gear.
You can perform several types of jumping exercises including: jumping jacks, jumping rope, skipping, burpees, box jumping, squat jumps, lunge jumps, frog jumps, and jumping on a Sanddune Stepper.
According to research out of Brigham Young University, “jumping 10 to 20 times a day with 30 seconds of rest between each jump provides greater bone-building benefits than running or jogging. These researchers found that running and jogging have less impact on bone density because of the repeated bone stress. So, if you are doing those activities daily, you should also be jumping at least 10 times a day.”
Sanddune Stepper
“The Sanddune Stepper is a “balance pad system” designed specifically to treat foot, ankle, knee, hip and lower back pain. It is a simple exercise and rehabilitative method for fitness enhancement and general well-being. It is a low impact tool that would be similar to walking on a sand beach with an immediate bounce back effect. Perfect for rehabilitation after surgery, debilitating diseases and/or for sports injury recovery. It is also great for pre-warmup before a walk, riding your bike, before jogging or lifting weights at the gym.”
The Sanddune Stepper is made from a reciprocating polyurethane foam blend and is low impact. It is an ideal rehabilitation tool for anyone recovering from an injury but equally useful for athletes of all levels. It can be used for jumping, lower body movements, upper body movements, conditioning work, and even active recovery. The design has also proven particularly beneficial to users with neurological disorders, helping to enhance body movement awareness in many patients. See some testimonials in the video below!
Crockpot Applesauce
A fall staple and one of the easiest recipes ever. We love this crockpot applesauce recipe because it is simple, delicious, sweetened with honey, and has a hint of lemon! We keep the peels on for extra nutrients and less preparation.
