This Month’s Resources

How to Change Your Mind

Author Michael Pollan leads the way in this docuseries exploring the history and uses of psychedelics, including LSD, psilocybin, MDMA and mescaline. Based on Micheal Pollan’s book of the same name, this doucseries intends to change the way you look at psychedelic drugs. With streamlined storytelling and efficient explanations, this documentary’s look into the healing potential of psychedelic drugs is a convincing one. We found this series to be very informative and recommend to all, especially those struggling with trauma, addiction, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and other mental health complications. See the trailer below, find the series on Netflix, and learn about the book and author here.

What is Ghee?

Ghee (or clarified butter) is the result of the alchemical process of cooking down butter until the liquid evaporates and the milk solids sink to the bottom of the pan. Ayurveda (see an old email blast on the topic here) teaches us that the consumption of ghee offers a wide range of benefits, including clarity of mind and sound digestion. In more scientific terms, ghee helps sustain healthy microbes in the gastrointestinal tract to promote effective digestion and elimination. It nourishes all the tissues of the body, including the nervous system, translating into calm energy throughout the day.

Nadi Shodhana

Alternate nostril breathing, also known as nadi shodhana, is meant for creating balance and regulating the flow of air through your nasal passages. The term Nadi Shodhana literally means “clearing the channels of circulation.” It is a simple yet powerful technique that settles the mind, body, and emotions. With just a few minutes of alternate nostril breathing, you can restore balance and ease in the mind and body. If you would like to follow along with a video please click here. In addition to calming the mind and reversing stress, alternate nostril breathing also:

  • Improves our ability to focus the mind
  • Supports our lungs and respiratory functions
  • Restores balance in the left and right hemispheres of the brain, and clears the energetic channels
  • Rejuvenates the nervous system
  • Removes toxins
  • Settles stress
